The data are a result of a Medline search on English papers with keyword "magnetic stimulation". The search gave 849 hits, after omitting 14 papers dealing with arguments other than magnetic nervous stimulation, or written by anonymous authors. The total number of papers in 1997 was predicted from the number of entries in Current Contents in 23/9/96-22/9/97, which was 192. Medline gave 65 hits for 1997. The number of papers in 1997 in each category was then multiplied by 192/65.
